The main theme of this organization is empowering women through technology. The focus is global and there is an international bibliography (dated 1997, but still useful) on issues concerning gender equity in technology.
'AboutWomen in Global Science and Technology WIGSAT is an international non-profit organization. Its mission is: WIGSAT provides services in the area of gender, science and technology for development, with a special focus on information and communications technologies. It also acts as a broker or disseminator of information and resources. To date, WIGSAT's demonstrated expertise mainly has been with NGOs and multilateral agencies. Areas of activity are divided into two categories: 1) Services Offered; and 2) Projects and Networking WIGSAT activities are delivered by associates on a consulting basis. Current associates are: Nancy Hafkin, USA; and Sophia Huyer, Canada. WIGSAT Executive Committee: Marilyn Carr, Institute for Development Studies, UK; Brent Herbert-Coppley, IDRC; Ann Holmes, Independent Consultant in gender, science, technology, education and mathematics in education.
