The Sixties and Seventies are a time in modern surf history when surf films flourished Surfers often convened at the local school or church auditorium and collectively hooted at the latest surf film to come from filmmakers Bud Browne Bruce Brown and many others They came to see Phil Edwards' graceful carve or to watch Lance Carson noseride for miles These salty visuals flickered on the screen allowing personal experiences to be shared among all present surfers Transported to unknown spots across the globe we were inspired to dream and to find our own perfect wave Thirty years later we enter the video and computer age and we find the surf community inundated with slash and thrash videos or computer files to download at home The combination of the art of surfing and the beautiful cinematography has changed from an active public screening to a private more subdued experience The
