'My name is Steve Benen. Im a freelance writer, researcher, and political consultant, working in politics in one capacity or another for about 10 years. My articles and op-eds have appeared in a variety of publications, including The Gadflyer, Church State, Education Digest, and the Knight-Ridder newspaper chain. Ive also been a guest on several radio programs, including NPRs Talk of the Nation. In addition to The Carpetbagger Report, Ive been a guest contributor to Salon.coms Daou Report, the Washington Monthly, the Huffington Post, AlterNet, and Crooks Liars. Im afraid the explanation isnt as entertaining a story as Id like. In historical terms, Ive taken the opposite of the traditional carpetbagger route I was born and raised in the south (Miami, Fla.), moved to DC for seven years, and then ended up in New England.
