About Sublimation Dye Sublimation A full color image is printed on an inkjet printer using special dye sublimation cartridges The image is then applied to the product substrate using a heat press The dye becomes a gas during the heating process migrates to the substrate changes back to a solid and becomes literally impregnated into the substrate Dye sublimation allows brilliant color reproduction on fabrics ceramics and specially coated metals and plastics Fabrics must be polyester based and cannot use a standard cotton For example t-shirts we use a made by SoftL'ink The inner surface is cotton and the outer surface is micro polyester This unique construction allows fantastic color reproduction and the quality is fabulous The basic dye sublimation process uses a special heat sensitive dye to print graphics and text onto paper This is called a transfer The paper is then placed on a sublimatable item and both
