Established in 1993 at the University of Central Lancashire and then moved to the Manchester Metropolitan University in 1998. The center aims to undertake practical research to support library and information services, sponsors the Libraries Without Walls conferences, publishes reports and provides consultancy and training services. The site includes information relating to publications, staff details and current and completed projects.
'A number of projects involve collaboration with partners across the UK and in several other countries. These include universities, colleges and public libraries throughout the UK; the Universities of the Aegean and of Macedonia, Greece; the Microelectronics Applications Centre, Ireland; Ennis Information Age Town, Ireland; Universiata Oberta de Catalunya, Spain; the Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland; Fretwell Downing Informatics Ltd, UK. CERLIM staff undertake consultancy work in the UK and overseas where appropriate, contribute to the University's teaching programme and supervise research degree candidates.
