Since then, I've seen various link building fads come and go (free-for-all pages, link farms, PageRank selling, off-topic reciprocal links, the list goes on...) But one type of link building has outlasted them all: on-topic, legitimate, oneway links still deliver targeted traffic and search engine rankings. This is what I've been doing all along.
